Healing & Wellness: A Yoga Series for Black Mental Health

Embark on a transformative journey with our beginner-friendly, three-part yoga series specifically designed to support Black mental health and well-being. This series aims to create a nurturing space where you can connect with your inner self, enhance your physical and mental health, and learn holistic practices for caring for both your individual and community well-being.

Series Overview:

Session 1: Grounding & Self-Connection

  • Focus: Begin your journey with grounding techniques that connect you to your body and breath. This session introduces foundational yoga poses and mindfulness practices to help you center yourself and build a solid base for mental and emotional stability.

  • Highlights: Breathing exercises, introductory yoga postures, guided meditation.

Session 2: Empowerment & Self-Care

  • Focus: Discover the power of yoga to enhance self-care and personal empowerment. This session emphasizes gentle movements and restorative poses that promote relaxation, reduce stress, and foster a deeper connection to self-love and acceptance.

  • Highlights: Restorative yoga, self-care routines, visualization techniques.

Session 3: Community & Collective Well-Being

  • Focus: Learn how to extend the benefits of your practice to support community well-being. This session integrates practices that cultivate empathy, compassion, and solidarity, highlighting the importance of collective healing and mutual support.

  • Highlights: Ideas for supporting community well-being, exploring yoga philosophy, group meditation.

Kemoy is a Black, Queer and Agender Mental Health Therapist and Yoga guide. They have been practicing yoga since 2016 and completed their 200hr yoga teacher training in 2020 with further specialization in trauma informed yoga, yoga nidra and pre & post-natal yoga since then. They have experienced the transformative power of yoga in their lives and aim to share with other Queer and BIPOc in a culturally sensitive way that is welcoming to beginners, so that they too may bring these practices into their healing journeys. They enjoy showing others what it means to incorporate yoga into their lives both on and off the mat.
