We open the 2026 edition of AFROLUTION with welcoming remarks from the festival team and brief trialogical highlights from three leading African/diasporic thinkers, artists, and creators, in which they shed light on the festival theme from the perspective of their respective disciplines and intellectual and geopolitical positions.

AFROLUTION 2026 co-curator Kader Attia in conversation with the guest artists of the group exhibition he curated, The Reticular Network: Reclaiming Our Human Connections: Adji Dieye, Joana Owona, Olivier Marboeuf, Nicolas Premier, Alison Umeh, Rafik Zaidi, and Algerian feminist activist Sanhadja Akrouf. Following the panel Conversation, the artists will open the exhibition through individual performances including performances and polylogues—in interaction with the audience. Afterward, starting around 8:00 p.m., there will be a reception with music and mingling.

The focus is on getting to know different rhythms from Jazz, Soul, R&B, and Gospel—and improvisation, as well as developing your own voice. We create a safe space where you can feel safe to show your true self, just as you are. We’ll work with rhythms, improvisation, and free singing, allowing you to fully embrace the freedom of individual self-expression.
