Please join us for our Dialogue Series on 1st and 2nd Generation Black Communities in Germany
Dear Black, Afro-diasporic, and African communities, Dear activists and organizers in organizations, initiatives, and networks,
FIRST GEN is a dialogue series focused on the lived realities of Black people who are the first generation in their families living in Germany. The series brings together different generations to reflect on migration experiences, identity formation, social pressure, and community resilience.
This edition focuses on mental health within Black communities. Research and lived experiences show that Black people in Germany and across Europe often access psychological support less frequently due to stigma, lack of culturally competent services, limited knowledge about support structures, and strong expectations of resilience within families and communities.
The event aims to create an open, community-centered space where these issues can be addressed collectively through dialogue, reflection, and the sharing of knowledge and healing practices.
Meals and drinks are free of charge.
Childcare is available on site.

Die anstehende Ausgabe wird sich mit dem Themenbereich „Familie" beschäftigen: Was bedeutet „Familie" für euch und inwieweit spielen Community-Strukturen als erweiterte Familie eine Rolle? Wie steht ihr in Bezug zu euren Familien außerhalb Deutschlands? Welche sozialen Erwartungen wurden im Kontext von Schwarzer Männlichkeit* an dich herangetragen? Worüber wird in deiner Familie nicht gesprochen?
