Trailer & Artist’s Talk: Akwaaba by Aya Cissoko
The Malian-French amateur boxing world champion, author and political scientist Aya Cissoko presents the trailer for her first documentary film Akwaaba, which is currently in production.
Aya had to fight to defend herself against the madness fuelled by generations of rage. In order to heal, she embarks on a spiritual and choreographic journey between the visible and invisible worlds to find her way back to her memories and tears. Akwaaba is about the difficult construction of identity, the preservation and transmission of memory and reparation. An initiatory journey in the footsteps of the African diaspora between New Orleans and Paris.
