MASTERCLASS WORKSHOP
Film workshop:
»On the way to alternative narratives: In dialogue with Petna Ndaliko Katondolo«
Take part in an exciting workshop with the internationally renowned Congolese filmmaker and educator Petna Ndaliko Katondolo, whose work is characterised by intellectual tenacity and a decolonial African futuristic vision. At the forefront of the »Recoding Aesthetic« movement, Ndaliko‘s innovative approach combines rhythm, imagery and social critique using digital tools to create a cinematic language that questions colonial legacies and reinvents storytelling itself. His films convey new knowledge, encourage reflection on the system of normalised violence, honour the memory of a painful colonial logic and question traditional narrative structures. His latest film Mikuba, shot in the Katanga region, premiered in the Berlinale‘s Forum Expanded and portrays citizens fighting for their right to regulate mining in south-eastern DR Congo, demonstrating his ongoing commitment to social engagement through art.
During the workshop, the filmmaker will talk about representation in cinema and his creative process of telling contemporary stories with alternative narratives.
