PANEL #2: »History Matters: Radical Justice as Everyday Practice — An Interdisciplinary Approach«

EOTO e.V., Togostr. 76, 13351 Berlin

Liberal human rights rhetoric alone is not enough to overcome structural inequality. Systemic and institutional anti-Black racism as historically developed phenomena, economic inequality, climate justice, digital rights, and demands for reparations will be discussed within the framework of a comprehensive critique of contemporary power structures—based on the book Radical Justice by Nani Jansen Reventlow and with a special focus on the Maghreb in its historical and contemporary relations with the rest of the African continent and with Europe.

BLACK YOUTH: Reading & Conversation

EOTO e.V., Togostr. 76, 13351 Berlin

In this book presentation, Nigerian-British author Kelechi Okafor will read from and discuss her novel Awakened and her young adult novel Are You Still Watching?. Imagine your whole life is a reality show and the audience is bored. A dystopian 2032 that mirrors our present with frightening accuracy. Together, we’ll explore the intersections of technology, race, and power in the dystopian year 2032 — and ask ourselves: What happens when we no longer »function« and are simply being canceled?
